well hard times have come...

im not quite sure i wanna sell,
but necessity is sitting in quickly
at this point.
what im wondering is what is my car worth
approximately and if anyone would be interested
if i decide to sell....
most of you guys know what ive done to it,
and i drove it just a day ago...
it still needs some work, but its quite presentable..
ill give details if i decide to sell...
thx guys ...zimmmy

My vote is park it till the recession is over or just keep driving it.

1. you don't (presumably) owe anything on it so it isn't costing you
2. it gets 30+ miles per gallon with cheap insurance - so you can justify it
3. selling it is a long term solution to a short term problem.

You will regret it long after the money is gone - don't ask me how I know.

If it makes you feel better, you can keep it in my garage - you know - out of sight out of mind

haha ...all good ideas JP!
it IS all mine $$ wise....

i told my friend id cover it and
open it in 20 years when its worth
a fortune  it only has 88,000 miles
on it, so i can finish it and sell
at a Barrett jackson auction! haaha

i havent gave in yet...just putting out
a feeler in case things get worse...zimmmmy

I just looked up Midgets in your state on Craigslist.
None for sale.

Memphis has a couple, one for about $3500 and one for $5500 - both rubber bumper cars.

On the subject of covering it up for 20 years and then seeing what it's worth...

I've got personal experience in that department.

I'll send pictures of the remains if you'd like.

like I said - cover it in my garage.

this economy sucks enough without small pleasures. besides aren't we supposed to reduce/ reuse/ recycle - which pretty much sums up Midgets far as I can tell.

:iagree:

Jim, if you sell that car I will personally come up there and KICK yer BUTT!!!

Have you any idea how invested the rest of these guys are in it?!?!

Nevermind the 30+ MPG, or the fact it requires no PAYMENTS and is CHEAP to insure... or that WHATEVER you could replace it with will be an abject failure at matching up. Think of the HOURS this bunch have spent making sure you had the BEST information you could get, just to help ya make it run as it should.
Find folks who'll do that for a Tercel!!!! I dare ya! And just HOW many hours' work have ~you~ invested??? Skin, blood, sweat and all?? sheesh. :jester:

Seriously: take a good, hard look at generating money some other way. Otherwise you'll have to find another LBC later and start all over again. OR you'll NEVER have another one and have regret to last into your eighties. We're ALL scramblin' just now. You'd be forced to sell it for less than it's worth anyway. The "sharks" are swimmin', lookin' for just such bargains. Reassess your abilities and sell yourself, not the car.

Just two cents from an old f*rt who's been there, done that. With the regrets to prove it.

haha, ...you guys!
trust me.... itll haveta get pretty bad
before i sell....i feel the pain already! ....z

Have a friend who had to sell a Pan Head Harley with a hard tail in the last economic downturn. He is still very sad about it. But a guy has to do what he has to do. Don't sell if there's a way to avoid it; but if it becomes unavoidable, don't look back with regret, but rather with fondness.

Jim, I'm relativly new here, I don't know you and I don't know the car. But I have to say, I agree with the rest. Keep it!!! It's the fun things that we have in our lives that get us through these down times. You maybe able to get one similar in the future, but you'll never replace it. Been there, done it. Anybody seen my MKIV lately?

You know you gotta do what needs done, still it would be a shame to let it go.
