I may have a chance to buy a very nice 2500M in the coming year. It belonged to a friend that passed away a few years ago. His son has it now and is toying with the idea of selling it. I don't think he has a good idea of the price and I really am not sure either. It is in excellent condition and has Panasports. I know it is hard to say without seeing it, but any thoughts on a fair price?
 
You should talk to Hayes Harris at wirewheel.com He always has a few listed for sale on his website to give you an idea of prices. I have a 2500 with the M chassis that needs lots of work. PM me and I will send you the email of a friend in NC with a 2500M who can talk prices too. It will be nice having another TVR in SC!
 
It really depends on the car. Chrome bumpers, correct fittings, no carazing in the paint work, etc. Does it have overdrive? Any up-grades?
 
Body is perfect. Paint job is old, but was done back when you could use laquer and has like 10 coats and is beautiful. It has the rubber bumpers. Interior is perfect. Panasports. Orginal drivetrain. Not sure about suspension mods. I'll try to get some pictures.

I looked at Wirewheel and their current inventory isn't comparable. I'll call Hayes and see what he thinks.

What TVR do you own?
 
I believe the $9 to $11K is correct. Not much price movement in the last few years. I bought a 77 2500M w/ 29K miles, all original in excellent condition 2 years ago in that price range and don't believe it's moved much in price.
 
Because the market is so thin on TVR's, prices can vary widely. 2 months ago I bought a 19,000 original mile car with excellent body, decent paint, recent brake and carb overhaul, good running but ratty interior, for $4,500. - but I suspect that was the low end of the market. There has been a silver 2500M on Ebay recently that was bid up to about $6,500 but the body had been customized. Right around $10k± is probably about right for a nice, original roadworthy car.

IMHO . . . quite possibly the best value in ANY LBC with such low market values.

It just may be that some of these low-price TVRs are excellent investments, or at the very least, a heckuva good deal.
