TR6 73 TR6 Static Timing Questions

I am wondering how I would set my timing statically on my 73 TR6. So I these are the steps I think need to do:

Step 1)Rotate the engine counterclockwise until I reach TDC on the compression stroke of Cylinder #1.

Step 2) Have distributor set so that the tach fitting is facing the driver side fender.

I want to set the timing to 10 degrees ATDC.

So do I use the numbers to the right or to the left of the TDC line on the crank?

Then I will adjust the distributor to the correct position.

Feel free to tell be if I have step 1 or 2 wrong.

I should mention that I have had my distributor converted from vacuum retard to vacuum advance
by Rob at British Vacuum Unit.

Many Thanks in advance for any information.
Jerry

If Rob replaced the vacuum Retard module with his vacuum Advance module, there'd be no reason to set the timing in the ATDC range....because there's no longer a retard module to take into consideration

Yes that is what Rob did. Maybe he said 10 degrees before TDC. Guess I will have to email him and ask him.
