73 midget problem

just recently, when i have been crusing at around 55-60 mph or higher, my car starts vibrating and shaking pretty badly. now, it does it at lower speeds and at high speeds it feels like i am losing control of the rear end and the rear seems to be swaying. could it be an unbalanced driveshaft or wheels? anyone seen this before? its a 73 midget

Sounds like a combination of tires out of balance and loose/broken suspension parts and/or bad shocks. I wouldn't drive it until you sort out the problem. It sounds serious (but not necessarily expensive).

Check for a bad universal joint. The back one I would guess.

try swapping your tires front to back before you do anything and see if the shake moves - you may have a broken belt in the tire itself - I've had this twice and it's staggering how much shake it can cause - start with the easiest fix

Thank You all very much! I'm gonna start by switching the tires around, and if you guys think of anything else please share

Check your front wheel bearings for excessive wear as well as the other front suspension parts. Till I sorted mine out it was quite a ride over 50mph.
