Hello, this is my first posting.
Found BCF on google, looked fun, and with Basil's help finally got registered.
Looking forward to expanding my knowledge of the 'B' which is a 72 Califorian reimport which I have enjoyed (most of the time)for 3 years.

Hope to have some photos soon.

David

David - welcome to the best forum on the 'net. The folks here are a *wealth* of knowledge.

Wondering - as yours has California blood, what is the smog/emissions control system setup?

Thanks for the welcome, I sure intend to tap into the knowledge that you guys have.
Strange that you mention emmissions. I don't know if you are aware but in the UK cars over 3 years old are subject to a stringent roadworthy check every 12 months. Just last week the B failed due to the CO% emission being too high at 9.37, the max allowed is around 6.
Had carbs reset, passed re test and now car is running lumpy.
Any ideas?

David - Here in Connecticut "lumpy" refers to sacks of potatoes, but I'll give it a try! If the car idles fast, has lost some power, and hesitates on throttle, it may be fuel mixture ratio. To get past a CO problem at inspection time, guys often lean up the mixture. Try enriching the carbs' fuel mixture.

I'm assuming you have twin HIF4 SUs (stock for a 72b). Screw in (slowly) the adjusting screw in the front of the body. Do it in quarter turns, remembering how much you move from the original setting. Keep the engine smooth; cycle the throttle to see if the problem(s) changes. If they're HS4 carbs, screw the adjusting nut down, away from the body.

By the way, I'm just suggesting the above based on your saying the carbs were recently adjusted for emissions control.

Let us know how it goes. I'm at the bottom of the knowledge totem pole compared to the others here.

Running like a sack of potatoes is quite close to the truth. I see that I may have problems using words with two different meanings.
I'll try your suggestion ang let you know how it goes.

I understand "running lumpy"......./ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Anyway, an ex-California car should pass emissions, so I am guessing that it may have had some of the equipment removed. I think that Tom is on the right track here, so good luck with the experiment. US smog equipment can be replaced, but you will probably have to source the parts over here in the States. By the way, Wednesday or United? Just curious. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for your comments.
I thought that this was a friendly site, just joking. For my sins it's United but after todays result I may change to the Wolves.

Cheers
