That's what the machine shop charged me for all the following machine work to produce a fully balanced 1098 engine for my '63 Midget:

Tank all parts to clean (before, during, after machine work)
Magnaflux block, head, crank, rods
Bore & hone block (020)
Install cam bearings
Install new freeze plugs & tap/install oil galley plugs
Grind crankshaft (010)
Pin fit and rod align/ rebuild rods
Install new balanced pistons on balanced rods
Surface flywheel & install new ring gear
Surface head
Install new guides
Install hardened seats
Install new valves, springs, seals & 3-angle cut
Spin balance all reciprocating parts (crank, rods/piston assembly, flywheel, pressure plate, etc.)

& I may have missed something....

Tomorrow & Friday I'll wipe everything down with alcohol & primer every piece...then, I'll paint every piece the original color & clear coat them......everything to be painted is hanging on my paint rack, the head is on a work bench, & the block is on the engine stand.

Then, Saturday I'll start assembly.

Good deal. You're a busy man, Tony.

That is a VERY good price from what I remember from the last time I had engine work done.

Prices are about the same as my engine machine shop and he is a Brit.

I would expect to pay almost twice that here. No fair.

yeh but you have 500 more cc's - therefore it's really only 50% more - it counts you know

the Machine shop did most all of that to my 1500. Than installed the thrust washers backawards! 5k miles later and here I am knee deep..... [censored] those little things!
