I will definitely keep updating this thread as things progress. Right now I just want to get the blue one running normally. I drained the old gas out (yum....love the smell of ancient gas!) and I'm trying to clear the fuel line that runs from the tank to the pump. I will be pulling the entire tank out this weekend to clean it out and seal it up and probably changing out all of the fuel lines and hoses too. Once that's done it shouldn't need much more to be a reliable driver.
**edit** I just pulled out the tank and holy $#!+ what a mess! It's not rust, but a very thick & sticky coating of what's left of evaporated gas all inside the tank (probably 1-2mm thick). I'll post pics in the morning.
