Went to Newport,Rhode Island this weekend.Weather was decent until last night,
when we hit rain in PA.
Got to see our oldest Son,who's in the Navy,& who will soon be deploying for
1-1/2 years. We toured the Marble Mansion,& did the Cliff Walk that goes along the
coast by many of the mansions.Long, but impressive.
I hate driving in PA & going North!I can't count how many times traffic came to
a standstill,& when it did clear, there was NO reason as to why this happens,& then there's
the motorcyclists, who go at extremely high speed, while passing traffic on the right shoulder,
& between cars (even when traffic is moving).
I'd love to do this trip again, but in a sports car,& on back roads.

Stop and start highway traffic with no visible problems. As a friend told me a few years ago - too much rubber for too little concrete.

Motorcyclist behavior. Don't get me started ...

The local drivers area not called “Masshol..s” for nothing! In all seriousness, Tom is correct - the ratio of rubber to asphalt is too high. I actually find east coast drivers better than anywhere else I’ve lived (Midwest and South) - but the traffic is second to Mumbai.

Awesome trip! I like JPs new digs, but I think there is a weed, maybe two, on his front lawn. Better take care of that!

And thank you to your son for his service! All the best on his deployment.

Thank you and yes, the weeds. Sigh it's hard to get good help these days.

Thinking of getting this posted prominantly. :D

Seriously, we were there in June and, Doug, you are right about the beauty - and the extravagance of the buildings. We didn't get to do the cliff walk as Mrs. JP's best friend, who was with us is waiting for a new hip. Next time. I must also say that particularly in Newport and environs (RI for sure) that we found the drivers to be exceptionally courteous and polite. I genuinely lost count of the times someone waved us in or let us go ahead on a blind corner. It was very much appreciated.
