'69 BE on craigslist Seattle for $2700!

It's not a BE though, a '69 Sprite with a fiberglass BE bonnet does not a BE make, but it's still cool.

I didn't even notice the year discrepancy until I saw the square arches. I'm pretty slow on the uptake sometimes. I've toyed with the idea of putting a BE bonnet on my '63 but I won't. I sure like the body lines of BEs though. I think it needs the round arches and rounded off rear to achieve that look, just the bonnet doesn't quite cut it. Although I like the idea of the front tilt for access. In my daydreams I find Lenham and Kellison bodies and such in barns for free.

I ran into a guy showing his big Healey in a Legends car show last summer who said he is looking for a MK2 Sprite that he will put a Buegye bonnet on.
In his opinion it would make the perfect car, a Bugeye with a trunk.

I have to say I'm tempted with my MK2 Sprite, I already have a weird bonnet anyway so switching to a Bugeye bonnet isn't a stretch. I already have a Bugeye 948 in it that one of the PO's put in after it had some sort of V-8 transplant.
Since my car is already part Bugeye anyway...

First I plan to procure a Dan Dare hardtop. Those things are really cool looking!

Do you have a pic of the Dan Dare hardtop?

G'Day Terry,

This is a Dan Dare hardtop (Originally made by Pride & Clark and still available through Frogeye Spares in the UK)

Jeff - what is the fibreglass front on your car? Is it Ashley or Kellison (Or something else?)

John Shep.

That's not my car, and good call, it's a Kellison. I was reading up on all things Kellison the other day and needed to change my avatar off the jack-o-lantern. Anyone ever seen a Kellison J1 in the flesh before?
Like this?
Supposedly designed for a spridget.

I was just wishing the other day that I could reach straight back and get things out of my Midget trunk like a Bugeye.

But you can... That little wall between the cockpit and trunk is removable. Heck, install a hinge.

I know, but my speakers are in it and this is the ONLY car I have EVER worried about having a radio in. My wife and I like to play the oldies station while motoring. It just adds that extra "groove" factor. My wife has that Anne Margret "groove vibe" and tunes from the era help even more. (It's all in the hair) I know my car is too young..but one day....

A BE w/ a Sebring front would be just PERFECT for me !!!
