34+ MPG? Who gets that? heck mines gone below 15MPG. Can't wait to take her off the road and rebuild.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif under 15MPG? sheesh... a few months ago we had a thread on fuel economy, and afew of the pople here reported 30+ MPG and at least one 40+MPG.

I personally average 18 to 20MPG. with my ZS equipped emissions machine

They (40+mpg folks) must've recorded the miles between 2 fillups. LOL - just kidding. Seriously though Last fillup to running out this last time, I had 152 miles go up on the odo. And it was completely full up to dripping out the filler tube. You tell me?

My car is a '77, with ZS, but no water "choke". I have the "choke" lever tied off at it's leanest point. It still starts on the first crank even at 10 degrees. When the weather is warm, it builds carbon at a stoplight - takes 2-3 gears to blow a smokescreen, then it runs fine til the next stop.

I believe the 40+ MPG folks were from the Spridget crowd running twin SUs...

if yer blowing carbon at lights, then I'd venture to guess something is misadjusted causing you to run too rich. Which would account for the poor fuel economy...

On a side note, JB was getting 20MPG reguardless of how she drove Emma when she still had the ZS (now she's on twin SUs, and we haven't heard if there's a change in economy yet)... I believe some of the other ZS people piped in with mid-20s fuel economy... so there still seems to be some variation, but I reckon that's mainly to different states of tune.

Bugeye peeps been known to get 49 MGP. Atlanta to DeMoins Iowa.

Kenny, If you can start that car at 10 deg with no choke, then shes runnin rich. The carbon at a stoplight just proves it. I bet you could see 28-30 mpg if you could lean that out to where it should be. Course then you'd hafta get a choke.
