69 B Tends to run hot.

I have a 69B (complete restoration) 1000 miles on new engine. I have a cooling fan installed. The car tends to run on the hot side of normal and will climb as the car is put under load. The radiator is new as well as other parts. Should I try a new thermostat? I am running on a heavy dose of antifreeze. Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated. The car has never overheated (maybe the guage reads high) but I don't like the uncomfortable feeling I get as the guage climbs.

Two things, the antifreeze mix should be 50/50 or more water than antifreeze. Also, where is your timing set. If it's getting hot under load, that might be an indicator its too advanced or retarded.

John, do you have the original belt driven fan on there. I tried my '72 with just an aftermarket electric fan still running the water pump with the belt and it ran hot until I put the old fan back on.
