68 sprite door panels [and working tach now]

Hey all,

I'm putting back together my 68 sprite door panels. Mine have the large trapezoidal looking cutout in them. My questions is, what orientation does the metal plate that fits in that cutout go? Does the "bubble/hump" go towards the door or the cockpit? How does the door panel cinch up against this piece?

Thanks much - Drew

p.s. I have a working tach now. I just bought an aftermarket 3 3/8", took out the insides and turned it down a little w/ my dremel. Then took the insides out of my old one and replaced w/ the new insides. Hooked it up just like the instructions said, worked 1st time. Doesn't say smith on the guage, but it works and looks fairly good.

As far as I can tell on my doors and the spare doors I have, the curve is inward toward the door. It shouldn't bow out into the car. It's held in place with 4 small phillips head screws. The door panel just goes over it, nothing around that opening to hold the door panel.
