Does anyone knows where I can find an original 1967 gear knob?
I have find (a replica I think) in angloparts for 26Euros or somthing.
Thank you in advance

Keep checking eBay.

I ~have~ one but it's being used... This is my Old Fella's answer to a missing bit on HIS father's wood plane. This was done in 1971, BTW.

Those are ignition points.(you have 2 sets there)
unless you have a late 70s LBC, or someone has converted it to electronic ignition, if you remove the distributor cap you will see one of those setting just below the rotor. Along with a silver "can" with a wire. (that's the condenser).
There are four "lobes" or raised parts on the shaft in the middle of the distributor, that, as they turn cause those points to open and close. Thats how you got timed spark before solid state ignition.

Nope, never seen 'em before /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'd have stopped at: "He shoots!..... TWO POINTS!"

...but then jaybird would accuse me of *something*, no doubt.

Are the threads on all of MGA's and early B's the same?

Reason I'm asking is:
The threads on the Elva shift lever (MGA gearbox) are not the same as an MGA (5/16 x 16 tpi or something???)

I know the lever is different...There is no remote tower on the Elva & the lever is bent forward.

I would like to find an MGA style knob that fits (the one in the attachment is FUBAR)

The threads are all the same from MGA to early MGB (fine thread). I think the cutoff is 1967. Later MGB (68 on) had a course thread.

It also just happens that I have two original shift knobs I may be willing to part with. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
