CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN IN DETAIL TE WIRING OF THE TACHOMETER. NEW WIRING HARNESS TACK HAS NOT BEEN INSTALLED AND THE WIRING DIAGRAMS I'VE BEEN ABLE TO LOCATE ARE VERY VAGUE, TELLING WHAT WIRES I NEED, BUT NOT WHERE TO ATTACH.. THANKS

Welcomer to the forum. It may take a it more than three minutes to get an answer but I'm sure someone here can help.

HiAutobahn 1, Under the dash in the harness is a White wire that connects to terminal # 2 on the Ignition SW the opposite end is routed in the harness that also connects up the Dynamo this end of the white Wire connects to the SW terminal on the coil or the applicable Hot terminal. The little loop found under the dash as part of the harness is fitted directly to the Tach via a small clamp type fitting. I hope this helps you figure it out-Keoke

SO THE WHITE COMES FROM THE IGN. SWITCH TO THE TACH AT THE POLE THEN TO THE HOT SIDE OF THE COIL. THE GREEN WITH THE SPADE CONNECT TO THE SPADE THEN, AND THE TWO BLACK JUST GO TO THE CASE????

That is correct. I did not know if you are POS or Neg Ground The "SW" connection at the coil agrees with POS GND-Keoke

If I remember correctly, the loop(white wire) can go only one way to work properly. If you have a neg ground conversion as I have you will probably see some tape (2) or splices where they were switched.
Where in NV are you? I have some diagrams somewhere another forum member drew for me.

Nah TH , "With A New Wiring Harness" just cut the loop on one side and wind the loop in the reverse direction and reconnect.---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Hi Autobahn,
If you have installed an electronic ignition (pertronix), you might have to put a double loop at the back of the tach with that ignition to coil wire to make the tach work. Also make sure your ground connection is good. If the tach does not read accuarately, you may even have to replace the .25 uF capacitor inside the tach as they seem to deteriorate with age.

THANKS TO ALL... IT'S WORKING AND SOMEWHAT ACCURATE. CLOSE FROM 500rpm TO ABOUT 2500rpm. AFTER THAT IT IS NOT VERY RESPONSIVE. I UNDERSTAND THAT IS NOT THAT UNCOMMON.
