Well, now that I've installed the Moss spin-on oil filter kit, I don't know if I want to use it!

Nothing wrong with it - it just doesn't look right what with that blue oil hose.

I'm thinking about going back to the original setup....what are your thoughts?

I've nothing against the original setup in theory, but blew out 2 filters on my 948 before I switched to the spin on adapter -- improper rubber o-rings came with some of the cheaper filters from Moss.

You could get one of the later 1275-style spin on setups. I'm pretty sure they're interchangeable year to year.
 
Tony, I agree with Drew. if you can use a 1275 spin on go with that because that blue hose is ugly, If not can you get a black hose maybe.
 
It is hard to see steel braided hose and say "that looks ugly" I say have the hose section remade in airquip steel braided and rock on. That would look much better, that and a Datsun 5 speed bolted to the back end instead.
 
Temporary solution would be to get some large diameter black shrink tubing and just cover up the blue. Got an electronics parts house near you?
 
I think it is past time to attach the tranny mount.
 
I put new rubber in it tonight, Jack....will bolt it up tomorrow.

I'm gonna try to find a 1275 spin-on setup....neither Frank nor Hap have an extra.....anybody got one?
 
Hey Tony, something just popped into mind, about that place in Birmingham, Matthews. They might have one for sale, they tear down alot of motors.

Give em a try, there close enough to you to get it to you in a hurry, make sure you ask for one with a good unmolested hardline, newbies with Midgets seem to mutilate these at times.

If it comes to that, Hap, I'll just reinstall my old 1098 setup - 'nuff said here...we can talk off-line.

That new Moss kit is coming off my engine & heading to the Holy Sprite today...Frank doesn't have a 1275 set-up so he's gonna use it.
 
Package with oil pipe in the mail Tony. I took it of my spare engine.

now, I've gotta find a 1275 spin-on assembly.
 
That didn't take long - I've got a complete spin-on assembly on the way right now via FEDEX...got it from Chris Abbott in Pennsylvania.
 
So, the spin-on unit got here....temporarily fit it to engine before painting...put the hose adapter on the back of the engine where the pipe usually goes...that hose barely fits....however, the hose to the filter adapter is too short...is there some type elbow that I should be using to hook that hose up?

Oh, I got my new hoses from Victoria & I don't want to <span style="font-weight: bold">ever</span> remove them again!!
