As a Ford lover, I was interested yesterdayin an "old Ford" an older man told me about yeaterday. About once a month I go to one of the local McDonalds for a fix. While there I got talking with this 80+ guy..on oxygen, regular there. Anyhow, he said he had this car in his garage for the past 15-20 years and wanted it gone. Later I met him there and was shocked to see a very nice, once painted(poorly) red Falcon Sprint. Black buckets..very nice, three on the tree standard, tires rotted off, all original chrome, wire caps with spinners etc. We finally got down to price. He said if someone offered him 15K he'd have to think about it. I was stunned. He said he liked my CGT and my 911 and maybe he'd trade. I thanked him and left. I probaly should have posted this in the humor section. Me thinks someone has watched alot of Barrett Jackson....

It's sad really - but certainly I see it a lot here north of the border. especially since most everything here is rusty

Hey, we had a gal out here on Oahu wanted 33K for an XK-150 sedan, or I should say what was once an XK-150... Door hinges were so rusty you could only open one door, and that dropped three inches when open. The rest of the body was in similar shape. Naturally, it did not run.

She stated she watched several auctions, and that is what they were selling for, so she would not accept anything under 33K.

LaLa Land peopel exist out here in Hawaii, also.

And I thought the Sprint was ~issued~ with a floor shifter... I wonder about that three speed.... or th' seats and trim.

feh. $200 tax deduction.

I thought all Sprints were floor shift also>??? But then again I'm old and losing it.

Don't do it!

He'll just hold out for more....

I looked at a '64 Ford Galaxie 500XL
that was for sale at a local car show.It was Burgundy,
with some small rust holes behind the side trim. The
really cool part was that it was a factory 4 speed
car.
The lady had it towed in (& out)of the show.I
asked her how much she was asking. She replied -
- "We'd take 11 for it".I thought she meant $1100.
I figured out that she really meant $11,000!
Even at $1100,I walked away from it.Also my first
car was a '64 Galaxie 500.Paid $400 for it in '72.

Some years ago, a guy I knew had a Falcon built up as a semi-clone of a Monte Carlo Rallye Sprint.
It was an old-style car, built on a '60-'62 two-door body.
Really, it was better than the original Sprints, with rear disc brakes, better race seats, etc. It had a full cage and hot 302 but was fairly mild looking....a neat sleeper.
I always thought it was extra cool.

The original Sprint that won all the sections of the Monte (but lost due to infractions) is still racing in historic rallys. It ran the Carrera Panamerica recently. Jay Leno has a similar historic rally car.

At the Monte in the '60s.
