Rings a bell, but cannot place it...real pretty though!!

I've never heard of it, but it sure it nice looking.

Actually, it did ring a bell after all. On page 144 of "More Healeys" by Geoff Healey, there is a picture of:

"John Colgate driving the lightweight Sprite with Falcon body at Nassau"

The picture is pretty similar to that car. The Healeys ran 1 of these Sprites at the 1960 Le Mans race with the special Falcon fiberglass body. They came in 1st in the 1000cc class.

There's a picture of car here:

The one on eBay is obviously not a Sprite, but the body does look similar.

I don't know much about them, but there was a kit car company called Falcon over in England, who also did some very small-scale mass production during the early-1960's, and obviously some for racing as well as I just heard about here...

I'll tell you, you guys are good!! Drew, that is where it rang a bell for me from too, once you mentioned it!! That could have had Sprite running gear and been re-powered - looks like a Ford set-up in it now. Neat reunion info willie!

The Sprite one looks like what they call a "Mark II" body, that was designed to go over a range of bodies. The eBay one looks like a "Competition" model, that had a space frame.

Funny how the little hamsters in your brain can scurry around and retrieve this information. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Thanks guys!......I wasn't having any luck locating info.
Now if I could just find a poor neglected car like this.

I'd be happy to spend the next decade putting it right.
I'm trying to locate a worthy project.
Something very unusual and beyond what most people would consider salvageable.

We'll keep our eyes open for you. There's lots of hopeless cars out there, I'm sure there's one out there for you. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
