I need some information on locked-up transmissions on AH Sprite MkII's.
I can't get mine out of 1st gear.
I haven't pulled the engine/transmission as yet. Can't see any reason because
I don't know what I'm doing when I see anything.
I need HELP desperately.
I don't know any British mechanics in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area.
If anyone has any suggestions, Please let me know.

Possibly one of the detent balls is stuck causing the shifter to be locked in first.
Or (more likely) 1st gear was overshot and the balls inside the gear popped out.
To check, drain the oil and look for 3 little balls about the size of BBs and/or up to 3 small springs about the size of a pen spring.
If the balls popped, the tranny has to come out and needs to be totally disassembled to fix it.
Been there, done that!

good luck
Frank

Been there too. THIS time I ran low on oil and it got hot. Slider gear stuck to the shaft. Fun stuff!
