Right now, there are 127 clicks on a posting entitled "Healey Endurance car" about an event that hasn't happened yet.

In the last week alone, there have been 299 viewings of a posting about "fender beading".

There are only 112 clicks on the "Healeys Return to Bonneville - Trip Report" with fewer than 100 viewings of the OVER 175 pictures of bonneville and what actually happened at the running of the first Endurance Car AND the Streamliner.

The Bonneville pictures were posted almost two weeks ago. Why so little interest in how the Bonneville runs came out ?

Good question Tim. I would suggest one of two answers:

1. More people are interested in fender beading because this is a popular winter project, or

2. Maybe someone is "shill bidding" the other topic looking to stir up interest? DW, whose name is attached to it, is after all a commercial enterprise.

Re: Somebody please help me to understand.

Maybe more people use this sight to help with projects and repairs that they can do themselves. I personally have and use more books on repair than the ones I have on history of Healeys, racing, and their founders. Some of us race, some are into originality in restoration while some like nasty boy modification. We all get something out of this forum on any given day. When we get onto an interesting subject where people can contribute, it just goes on and on. This months Healey Marque is practically dedicated to Bonneville.
I enjoy this forum and check it often and read most all the posts. It is an extended family and all of the brothers (and sisters) have their preferences.
Just my 2 cents.

Re: Somebody please help me to understand.

Hello Cottontop,

Yes I know it seems funny what you're saying I understand what your saying completely.

One thought is that there are some people out there who might feel they missed out the first time round with the Bonneville event and now they are trying to make up for it.

One of the biggest disappointments in life is to realise that there are people out there that don't get as stirred up about something as you do. That's just the way it happens I suppose but there again unfortunately that's life.

I must admit it can be somewhat disconcerting to have posted something and have it sit there for a couple of weeks before someone even admits to having looked at it let alone answer it.

Hello tahoe healey,

My sentiments exactly. I don't read all the posts because some of them don't interest me one little bit.

Best regards to all even those who don't click on,

bundyrum.

Re: Somebody please help me to understand.

"Different strokes for different folks", I guess.

I'm not into racing and I try to keep my cars as stock as possible. But I do admire enthusiasts who explore the other sides of the coin, and that's the key. Whether your passion is polishing your aluminum valve cover or installing webers, it's a interest outside the confines of the day to day rat race.

I believe it's an asset when forum members bring their issues/ideas/events/innovation to the attention of other members, regardless of the subject matter. There's something for everyone on this website, except you have to bring your own booze.

I feel that way when I watch people walk by my Healey and not even notice it!

Cottontop: The answer might be as simple as this: repeat viewings add to the viewings total, so project threads that build knowledge cumulatively might have five or more viewings from a variety of individuals, while a thread that tells one story and includes a few "thank you's" or "atta boys" afterwards gets visited just once. Ausmhly's 9 mpg thread has over 2300 hits; how many different people do you think that represents?

Re: Somebody please help me to understand.

What I don't understand is that during the runup to the Healeys Return to Bonneville, my posting on this forum had 1459 click-ons.

Those click-ons lead to a page on my NTAHC.org web site where I posted updates about the upcoming Healeys at Bonneville.

My web server keeps track of WHO hits and WHO multiple hits that link. There were many multiple hits but rarely more than 2 from each user.

There were over 700 individuals who accessed the PRE Bonneville information one or more times.

Now that the runs are over and the results are in, there have been fewer than 100 individuals from this forum who have seen the results and the 175+ pictures of the Bonneville activities.

I would have thought that there would be at least as much interest in what ACTUALLY happened at Bonneville as there was for what MIGHT have happened.

Maybe my "Trip Report" post wasn't clear enough. I will create a new post that explains that there are 175+ pictures of the Bonneville activities at www.ntahc.org.

In MY opinion, if you have never been to Bonneville, it is well worth taking a few minutes to see what actually goes on there.

Re: Somebody please help me to understand.

Hello Cottontop,

just a thought here, maybe because the speed record itself wasn't broken is why people didn't bother to look. Maybe some people were expecting "big things" from the attempt and felt they were let down (by their own expectations no less).

Thanks by the way for what you did it was appreciated, keep it up, the effort that is.

thanks also for the e-mail about your trip to TWS.

Best regards,

bundyrum.

Ding Ding Ding!!! We have a winner. The higher view count is because viewers are looking at the other two threads multiple times.

I read the Bonneville thread, went to the site and looked at all the pictures and really enjoyed it. But that was it. Nothing new to see by reading it a second time. The fender beading thread had different opinions and discussions about how best to polish stainless steel. I kept going back to learn new things about metal polishing. The endurance run thread is about an event yet to occur so some speculation about the outcome, and discussion about attending is going to draw more repeat readers. I think this is just the typical reaction to different kinds of subjects.

Re: Somebody please help me to understand.

I looked at your Bonneville pics (they were great), but haven't looked at the beading thread.

I guess I need to catch up...
