That sounds like the guy I bought my fuel tank from (SoCal?). While I haven't installed it yet, it looks to be a quality piece.

As I recollect, keoke knows him personally, and it was on his recommendation that I bought the tank in the first place; perhaps keoke will respond...?

:savewave: Hi BOB / Randy
Yes Jorge = George builds high quality replacement tanks for the LBC's. I have not talked to him in a while but he was considering a distributors offer last time I talked to him. Good it didn't happen as the direct sales and good prices would have ceased. However, every one I know who purchased a tank from him have had no problems with it.--Keoke

Hello,

I did not know something about the quality of the fuel tanks. But i talked with my best german friend( He live in Rochester/Michigan) about the seller. He told me that he receive excellent quality parts for his Jaguar from this seller.
(The seller did also have chrome parts )

Bye michel- who post from snowing Germany

AH don't worry about your English Michael. If we can't figure it out it probably doesn't exist or we can play Google search: Did you mean srghi9ugjl?.--Wiki Keoke--

Anyone have experience with the repro that Moss is selling?

Moss Tank

It looks pretty nice, and shouldn't rust.

My only worry with an Ali tank is Galvanic corrosion, which when it gets going is murder....

If I used an Ali tank, I would make sure the whole outside was very well coated with fat layers of paint.

I ended up buying one from Jorge after major work trying to make a good one from two old ones. It was educational, but not worth the effort. I am quite happy with the tank I got from George. Once you find a pinhole in a tank, it is probably not worth trying to fix them.

my tank looked good outside and inside until I removed it to clean out some sand that someone had dumped into it. The tank had some pinholes in it. I searched abit on repairing it and decided against it. I purchased a tank from Jorge its enroute. Bob

Well Alan. there might be a cause for some concern. However in this application you will usually have at least one of two fundamental requirements missing:
1} An electrolyte must be present
2} A current return path is not available.

Additionally, the contact area of the two metals is small and the potential difference will also be small.Fwiw--Keoke

Keoke -

I have a half eaten gas tank sender (when the little fiber washer cracked) to prove it!

Yes, chances are slim, but if something somehow has a ground circuit through the tank, the tank will be the first bit to go.

Cheers,

Alan

Naw, Tank is already grounced via the fuel lne en all those little screwa take care of the sender. .---Keoke

It doesn't matter if it's grounded or not, what matters is if current is flowing through the tank. if it's grounded just at the pipe union, it's not an issue unless there's a hot lead on the tank.

If it is connected to ground at two points, and current for some other random Lucas smoke generator goes through the tank to the Lucas item in question, then you will have a basis for long term Galvanic corrosion....

BTW, please don't poke me with your trident!

Naw for galvanic action to occur the destructive current is generated by the dissimilar couple not the cars electrical system. This destructive fella can occur in a car that is completely inactive that contains dissimilar metal interface and is accessible to an electrolyte.-
