TR2/3/3A 59 TR3A Front Hub Oil Seal

I know, I know....

I did the search and read several different threads on the installation of the hub oil seals...

I did find a few threads on this forum and others that contradicted what I thought was the correct installation so I thought I would confirm it here....

Here is a picture of how I think the seal is installed in the hub....felt towards the verticle link.



I did read the info on felt thickness etc with the new felts needing to be trimmed to fit.

I found a couple of old seals in my parts bins that I am hoping are close to the proper thickness....

Felt towards the link is correct.

Easy way to deal with felt too thick is to do a trial installation without it. Find the bearing adjustment (remove all play, back off 1/2 flat), mark the nut. Remove the hub, pack the bearings, install with felt, return nut to marked location.

This is actually written up in one of the factory manuals, but I forget which one offhand.
