Need to find out the original color for my 59 TR 3 hood emblem. The original body color was powder blue, but was painted British green at its restoration. The emblem is red, but I am thinking it should be blue.

Early TR3A's had red badges, and then were changed to blue. Depends on commission number - check out Moss catalog here: > Front Body Fittings TR2-3B <. Note the difference between the red badges for TR3's and TR3A's.

The factory did and used anything to sell /ship another car.
I once had an original Tr3b that had come fitted with the tr4 rear differential .
It fit badly to say the least. If the aprons were not pre-drilled for letters, they might
have misspelled the name itself.
