59 BE Windscreen Pillars

Whitephrog

The windscreen pillars that came with the new Whitephrog were painted OEW same as the body. So I decided yesterday to begin to strip the paint to get them back to "original". Under the white paint I found a substantial brown primer that didn't remove with the outer finish. Made me begin to wonder if the OEW finish was factory original. Horler and others say that the painted pillars went away with the nine stud hood after AN5/5477 in Oct 58. My car AN5/9382 was produced in Jan 59. The pillars are the later type, just painted. Anyone else experienced painted pillars after AN5/5477 that look original? This car has been in storage unmolested since 1974.

Guess someone liked em painted.

What an interesting car. According to vic Brit,5477 was the last studded top car. you have an unique car.

OH, how neat. A real rare beast, a one of.

Really, how nice. Something no one else will have ever.

Car does not have a nine stud windscreen but does have windscreen pillars of the later type that appear to be factory painted.

Strange things on cars sometime. My son got a 85 TVR Tasmin a few weeks ago. His car was apparently built during a model change over. Some of his "stuff" all factory was from the earlier model and some from the later

And that must be exactly what you have, not only the last of the line but a change over with a bit of both. Too neat.
