Hello everyone:
I'm trying to salvage a 57 TR3 Small mouth.
Got the shock of my life, when the body and paint estimate was 6 grand.
I have to have a right front wing, and really hate to spend $1100, for a china repop.
Are there any used parts available, that are in good shape, or am I stuck into spending $1100 plus.
I could probably use most of the removable wings, hood, trunk ect. if available. The doors are ok suprisingly.
If anyone knows of a body part souce for this car,PLEASE let me know---I'm a mighty depressed school teacher.
Thanks, Emmett

Why don't you get the existing wing repaired. The repros don't fit and they will cost you more in the end than having any holes patched by an expert.

BTW, $6000 is not expensive for a paint job.

:iagree:

If it can be used at all.

And $6K isn't all that out of line for one of these. LOTS of hours spent fitting and blocking, and fitting again, and blocking, and... well, you get the idea, I'm sure. I restored a '57 as well - sold it a while back - and the body/paint guy lost TONS of money on me!

Oh, and welcome to the Forum!

I spent alot more than $6k for metal, body and paint. You got it good! Just remember "A cheap paint job isn't good, and a good paint isn't cheap"

Check with Triumphs Only or Team Triumph. They might have some body parts. Also, when I was looking for body parts I recall talking to someone named Les Drake, a Canadian I recall, who had a surplus of original wings. Stay away from the new fenders, I hear the fit is horrible.
