Hi Folks,

Now don`t have a stroke reading the subject line. I may or may not (?) sell my `57TR3 Small Mouth (TS21162L).

Check out the last post under "British Motorcycles" by Gundy with the subject line "Should I pull the Trigger".

I too am getting an "Itchy Trigger Finger" to be driving something now as the weather is really quite nice.

For the curiosity seekers; I have over $13K in parts alone in a "Show Quality" Restoration. Thats the number I`m looking at.

Regards, Russ

I'm all set and already have two TR's but that sounds like a pretty fair number to me.....good luck to you and the buyer......

Good luck. I had over $8800 in receipts for my 64 Spitfire years ago (more since) and would be lucky to sell for 1/2 that. But mine is no way show quality or a TR3.

To loosely quote Peter Egan: "If your car was gone tomorrow and you received full replacement value, would you buy it again? If the answer is no, then it's time to sell."

I understand the pull of the ready-to-drive car. It's the part about January weather being "really quite nice" that I don't get...

Good luck. I always tell people that I never intended to only own one car -- I call it my serial collection. Not wealthy enough to have them all at once so I have them one at a time.

Hi Drew,

Well Sir; "Sunny & 65deg" makes me want to drive something, somewhere with the top down.

Remember; This is "SC". Spring comes in around Mid March down here.

How`s the "Snow" in Utah????

Not all that deep this year, really. Had the first real storm of the season this past weekend. We need the stuff around here, so I'm hoping it keeps up.

Spring here can wait until June some years...

Only other thought is that a completed and sorted car sells for more than one that is *almost* done. Not sure where you are with your car, but might be worth toughing it out so you can at least drive it a bit.

Hi JP,

She really is`nt all that far away from being on road. I anticipated Mid to late Summer or Early Fall. At least this year anyway but "History Repeats Itself". Thats the story of my life. I want something now!!

We`ll See.

Russ

If I had the money, i'd take the small mouth off your hands right now, even though I'm not even done my TR6 yet =) A tr2 or tr3 small mouth will be my next car I think... unless i happen across a '48 triumph 1800/2000 roadster that is =)

Russ,

I would keep going with the TR3 restoration as I would think it would be difficult to get your investment out of it selling it as a partially completed car. In the mean time, take about $3000-$4000 and pick up a 1990-1997 Miata to tide over the top-down desires until your TR3 is done and then sell the Miata.

Scott

Scott's got the right idea.

I never get enthused about driving the TR6 in January, but this year I've had it out three times since Christmas and I can't wait for some heavy rain to wash the salts off of the roads so I can do it again.

I understand your driving urges completely.

Howdy drooatz,

I`m very aware of a complete car being worth more than an unfinished one. I "Don`t" have to sell her! Actually, I`m continuing the restoration process as we speak. The further I get into her from here; The more apt I`ll be "Not" to sell her. So; I either get what I would like now or I continue to finish her.

Thanx for the input & your Inquires.
Someone is going to get themselves (?) a really nice TR3 & I`m hoping It`ll be someone here.

Regards, Russ

Well, good luck with what ever direction you decide to go. Always a tough call to make on selling a car. I struggled for months over the decision to sell the Tunebug, but in the end feel I made the right decision to find the car a new home.
