567000 miles

When I was in grade school, we had a 64 Comet. It was dark green with a white top. This is pretty amazing. Hope she makes it to a million.

That is Comet looks to be in nearly pristine condition. I'm willing to bet she didn't follows Ford's recommended 6,000 mile oil intervals. Great old lady and it just goes to show what a good owner can accomplish with a machine.

When my wife was working back in the 60s one of her clients had an early 60s Mercedes with over a million miles on it and still drove it. I don't know the model but it looked like the one Tom had/has. Black sedan. They sold the car when they moved to Portugal, and have no idea who bought it but I think Mercedes themselves were involved.

great story. In the 90's I read a story of a local cab driver with a 50's Plymouth - had 1.2 million miles but it was written off just before he broke 'the' record (whatever that record was) must have been heartbreaking.

I managed to squeak out 317,000 over 13 years with my Hyundai Santa Fe. I'd still be driving her today if the timing chain were not so difficult (and expensive) to replace.

My dad had a way of coaxing miles out of things. He changed his oil every 2,000 miles, greased all zerks every 3 oil changes, and greased wheel bearings every 6 oil changes. We had a 66 IH Travelall when I was a kid that the speedo broke in after the third time it turned over, it took him about 9 years of driving to get that far, and he drove it for nearly another 10 years after that.

The most I've gotten out of a car was a little over 350,000 out of my ex-wife's 96 Camaro before the trans had to be rebuilt. It ran for another 20,000 or so before we got divorced and I have no clue where it is today.

My father’s last car was a 1964 Comet Caliente. It was maroon with tan interior. He offered it to my daughter when she was 16 but we has already gotten her other grandfather’s Plymouth Scamp.

There's a 64 Comet on Ebay right now that someone dropped a 302 in with an Edelbrock carb. The asking price is $29k. They're nuts.

Either that or we're really OLD now!
