Did not want to hijack Pat's earlier thread, but I was curious if anyone had a pic of what the inside of my 56 should look like (no outside door handle) at this point? Should there be a similar pivot point for the cable?

Thanks, Mike

You need a tool like a dental pick, Ask your dentist for the ones he will be throwing away, after he autoclaves them of course. Pull gently on the outside of the push nut and insert the dental pick under each tab in turn and pull to release the grip of the tab from the square shaft. You will only gain a little movement each time and have to go round many times. After the push nut is off you will have to bend the tabs back to ensure a good rip when you put the car back together.

Thanks for the reply ... I was not asking how to remove that washer (sorry lifted pic from another current thread) just wondering what the mechanism in my 56 should look like. Cheers, Mike

The mechanism in your 56 should not have that pivot/shaft. Instead, the pull attaches directly to the vertical bar slightly visible to the right; via a pin that sticks out through the door panel.

Sorry I don't have a photo handy, maybe someone else can help.

Thanks for the input. If anyone has a picture of what this looks like in a 56, I'd greatly appreciate seeing it. Cheers, Mike

Not much to it. I don't have a comlpete door but this is what it looks like. The strap would connect to the screw on the end of the arm.
