After 18 months of hard work Don got his 55 TR2 out on the road for the first time.I had driven it back from Prather Racing on thursday after he had put his fine tune on the old girl. This was its first 20 miles or so since 1984.
After lunch on friday he drove in from Salina with a friend. We fiddled with a few things and thought he would just take it for a short spin before doing the 100+miles from Topeka to home. Not Don,away he went like he had stolen it and straight out onto I 70,where his friend(an older fellow) had some trouble keeping up with him at 80mph!! He was at home some 90 minutes later(fuel stop not included)I am fairly sure that his motor is now broken in........

Woo Hooo.........I can almost feel the breeze as it flew by in my mind at 80mph........

Congratulations......well done.

Now if Don's oncologist can get him the time to enjoy the little darling. He may have to drive to Houston very soon...

I see that tomorrow (Tuesday) might be 69 F. and sunny in Topeka; I'm very surprised, although I'm not sure what Friday was like. I'm assuming you are describing a top-down excursion.

I also hear the breeze in my mind.

What a celebration that must have been.
