T-Series 52 MG TD oil filter

Ok, just inherited a 52 TD and first thing first, wanted to change oil filter.

It was a pain in the but getting the can thing off, and then when I ordered a filter (from Hastings) it looks nothing like the original which appears to be made of cloth and is longer than the one I received new.

Where do you guys get these cloth looking filters? I understand I can change the oil can assembly to a screw on type or what have you from moss but would rather keep original.

Also, is there anywhere other than moss to obtain new parts in the US.. they seem overpriced

I have an early MGB, not a TD. I got some of the felt filters when I first got the car but NAPA carries a paper filter in a metal canister that is easier to work with.

There is nothing your going to buy for a T series car that isn't expensive, regardless who you buy from. Moss is an invaluable source in obtaining parts for our cars. They have been an asset in getting some of these out of production parts available. The staff at Moss is very educated in British cars and are willing to help on anyone's questions. They also have a no nonsense return policy, if a part isn't the right one, which is rare. Over the years, I've bought parts from other venders and had to send them back because they were junk. There's a vender here in the states that hires people that I can't understand on the phone and they know nothing about what they sell! Bottom line, if you own a T series car and want it correct, be prepared to spend money, lots of it! PJ
