T-Series 5 Speed Road Test

I didn't say anything earlier, as I wasn't sure what the results would be but my car has a Dave Clark 4.1 rear in it. Its XPEG engine is in top condition, running a Crane cam, and runs beautifully! It pulls this 5 speed with no strain. It's a completely different driving experience! Love it!

What I forgot to say is, I use nothing but 90+ Octane gas in it also. thank goodness it doesn't use much gas! $$

I knew you would love the new trans... it does make quite a difference. I couldn't believe what a difference it made when after I installed the Toyota 5-speed in my car. Enjoy the ride!
 
Thanks Elliot, I'm amazed at the difference, I never would have thought that just changing the transmission would create a totally different driving experience! Should have done it years ago! :thumbsup2:

After my restoration I drove with the triumph 4-speed for two years. Sustained highway speeds were painful…. High revs and loud engine noise.
I installed the HVDA kit with a Toyota Supra 5-speed. As you say, big difference.
 
Because the gear shift knob that came with the kit was poorly made and would not stay tight, I made another knob from an old MGB knob with the leather stripped off and wood cut down on a lathe. A tad shorter than the original knob it works and feels perfect! Poor pic but you get the idea. The letters are a bright white, don't know why they came out dark on the photo.

Nicely done, Paul. I've turned a few of the MG wood knobs down and usually seal 'em with clear casting resin. That seals the entire knob & medallion from any moisture intrusion or staining.
