I'm very excited about this, BillM rebuilt my 5 speed and we're going to install it this Saturday at the 1st 2011 meeting of the N-O-S-H-I-T group.

As some may recall I've got the A15 Nissan (Datsun 210 Deluxe) motor so it's not a problem putting a Datsun transmission behind it.

We have had this particular transmission in my car (the 78 Midget) before, so fit isn't an issue.

It's a "simple" matter of pulling the motor, taking the old trans off and putting the new one on then reinstalling in the car. There are a few tricky bits that BillM and I found but all in all it's a whole lot easier than adapting the tranny to a British engine.

My dear better half said she doesn't like doing the math in her head while driving so I ordered a 90 degree +25% ratio speedo gear from
https://www.transmissioncenter.net
They promised to get it to me by Friday.

Hopefully I'll bring enough spare bits & pieces along with a new clutch (why not replace it while everything's out?).

This will be a lot of fun, and we'll definitely have to post some pictures after.

Woohoo!

I've got one of those Datsun 5-speeds sitting in my shed, waiting for me to accumulate enough funds to get it to BillM for rebuild and adaptor bits.

Rick,

Were you able to determine if the drive pin on the angle drive is square or keyed?

Gerard

Nope - but I'll find out!!
