4speedDatsun B210 - Where Does it End?

I have a '78 B210 (Blue - 4speed).
I bought another '78 (Brown - 5 speed) for
the transmission.
Swapped the two transmissions out,
only to find out that the mounts are different.
I bought a new driveshaft for the '78,but found
out that it fits the '74 ( I have a '74 parts car).
I put the 4speed trans back,& swapped the
rear end from the '74.
Now I've read where someone put a 5 speed
in their 4 speed car.So now I've pulled the '74 rear
axle out,& will swap it with the '78.
Confused yet? This is as easy as it gets.
I've decided not to let this car beat me - in the garage
for almost 6 years,spending $4500 +.
I need to get a life.......

The whole thing sounds pretty shifty to me. Are you sure you're geared up for this job?

Ben,

No - I'm not.I've decided that I'm not going to let this car
beat me.I NEED to finish this to prove that I can finish something.
I've decided to take the '74 & get it going as an autocross
car.Hey- it's been rolled,& will probably run forever,so I'm going
to try & get it running & race it.
There's something about me & Tony that's the same (gasp!)-
we never finished what we started.
For some reason, the '74 has got me going again.I realized that
instead of buying more projects,I need to finish the ones I have.
How long do you think this mentality will last?

Hold onto this, Doug. It's a great feeling to have something completed that you can use.
