#48. DOT 5 conversion

There are a lot of different opinions about the best way to convert to DOT 5 from DOT 3/4.
the safest bet would of course be completely dismantle your brake system, clean & flush, then bleed in 5. (That's pretty much what all the Mfgrs. recommend). But on the BCF & several other DIY sites, a simple chase the old fluid(3/4) with the new (5) has done no harm and worked fine.
i figured I'll take the simple route first & if it gives me trouble, then I will do it the hard way.

so far so good. I've stuck to driving the back roads the last couple of weeks, with little traffic. If brakes happen to fail I'm 95% sure I can downshift out of a situation. But all seems well.
i re placed the rubber clutch hose with a ss one.

Combined with the new Dot 5 it seems gives a much more positive, firm feeling clutch.

I'm waiting on TRF back order of SS brake hoses.
then I will bleed again and check & see if there is any crud in the lines. Regarding back orders:
TRF is getting as bad as US airway customer service.

Finally got he ss braided brake hoses:
worth the wait.
Made by goodridge.

I'm still waiting on those ss brake hoses from TRF a month later.
but I can say the ss clutch hose replacement, has made for a firmer, more responsive clutch ( could be the Dot5 conversion had some positive effect also)
