So the mystery car is.........not a 47 but a 1958 right hand drive Peerless GT with the original Triumph drive line!

It is a 1958 fiberglass body, tubular space frame, DeDion rear end, wire wheels, with a Triumph drive train. The car was built in England. Two hundred and fifty were built, 50 with left hand drive that were sent to the states. Called the Peerless GT. They won their class at LaMans and came in 16 overall in 1958.

The owner is restoring a 1909 Dusenberg built Mason vehicle now which should be done by summer. The Peerless GT is next.

The owner just contacted me and invited me to have a look see! I guess I better take pictures (maybe even of the Dusey) or get in trouble with Paul! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I actually sat behind the wheel of a brand spanking new and yet to be delivered Dusenberg in about 1987 (and the motor was running). A small company in Elroy, Wisconsin had purchased the Dusenberg rights and was actually making them as one-of cars for some very wealthy clients. The cost was about $385k and up, way up!

Ok, NOW the "50" makes sense to me!

There's a guy in VA who races a Peerless GT, so that would make at least TWO racing Peerlesses in the US! I wonder if your owner knows about the VA car and its owner/driver...or about the Friends of Triumph?

If I may be picky, it's actually a Warwick, which is a little different from a Peerless.

There used to be a guy in the Maryland/DC area who raced a BRG Peerless, but I haven't seen him around in ages.
