My unassuming start of the week turned into a $3000+ "all you ever wanted to know about wheels" lesson.
But, being philosophical about the situation, I am writing it off as the cost of higher education.
on the bright side ( no pun intended) the new chrome 60 spoke wheels look great & Hendrix has them so well tuned, most of the shimmy & rattles I had come to accept are gone. He labeled them, individually as to where they should be mounted. Not sure how he figured that, but the performance speaks for its self. The Vredstein Sport Classic 185x15, recommended by Bo, perform very well, are quiet and smooth running.
the tread design is interesting, as it wraps around the sidewall, theoretically to provide more traction while cornering.
while the hub extension installation was a bit of a challenge & required an extra foot to hold the brake, it also gave me an opportunity to fully inspect my front and rear suspension & steering.
it was also good to know that all four wheels braked completely, at least , for more than 70ft/lbs. torque.
( torque of the HE nuts)
