40DCOE 18 Revisited

Well, now that I have a running car...
A year ago I posted my problems with the 40DCOE, when I did the stomp test it would bog or die.

I am happy to anounce that I have figured out what the problem was.

To begin I went back to square 1, setting the initial idle speed on the carb. I found that at 1/4 turn from contact on the idler set screw that speed screws were 2-2 1/2 turns out (too lean) I need bigger idler jets. I was currently using size 40 jets. Well I had a set of 35's sitting there and decided to put my micro drill set to use. So I used the smallest .61 and drill the idler jets out. After putting them in I had to screw the speed screws in to 1 1/2 turns (Perfect) Now when I do the "stomp test" or accelatate rapidly it does not bog and screams to life! Wooooohhhhooooo

So now my current set up is:

30 = choke size
4.5 = auxiliary
125 = main jet
170 = air corrector jet
.61 = idle jet
F16 = emulsion tubes
40 = accelerator pump jet
Plugged = accelerator pump discharge

I will report any changes I try
More to come.
Dan
