I'm taking a few days off from work this week to spend time with my (much) better half. Tomorrow, 20 May 15 will mark 40 years since Mary and I said "I do." I met Mary when I was at my first AIr Force duty location at Malmstrom AFB, Montana. She was the sister of the wife of an older co-worker. I had an old Honda 350 motorcycle at the time that needed work during the winter. My co-worker, who was a married Tech Sgt, had a house on base with a garage, offered to let me use his warm garage to work on my bike. While there working on my bike, my co-worker's wife told me that her sister was going to be visiting from Idaho in the coming summer. She asked if I'd like to come to dinner and meet her sister! In other words - my Sister-in-Law was responsible for bringing us together!
Mary and I spent a lot of time together during that summer and when it was time for her to return to Idaho (she was still in High School), I popped the question! What was funny is, her sister, who was responsible for bringing us together, was absolutely adamant against her little 17-year old sister marrying an "old" man of 19! Her sister lost and we were married in Twin Falls, ID a few days after Mary graduated from High School. 40 years later...
