I would appreciate if anyone could offer up some sources for a new camshaft. Denis Welch has a good selection but cost is high.

My Healey has an Isky cam. I installed it around 1985, and off the top of my head, I can't recall what the duration and lift is. Definitely streetable though.

When I went to Isky, they would only grind my cam. They didn’t have any cams in stock. I got the impression that they never would either. This was about 3 or 4 years ago.

stretch, hummmm,i just checked out d.w. ya its around $1200.00 u.s. for new and less then half that for exchange of your old one,or redo it,moss price for stock ones like $700+ and thier works rally one is about the same as d.w.$1200.00 etc, what surprises me is that someone like isky hasnt picked up the ball on this one,as mentioned by gregw. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gifim thinkin bout pulling my eng.this winter to 'soup it up'and know ill be coming up against this issue as well.let us know how you make out.i may even do the 'webbers'? good luck.anthony7777.

Correct, they regrind your cam. They're one of the oldest in the business, I didn't have any reservations about having it done.

When you consider what the alternatives are ($1200.00!!), it's not a difficult choice.

Anthony, I have the BJ7 engine with the 240 degree duration cam. I see that the only cam now available as new is the BJ8 cam with a 252 degree duration. That cam should provide some power improvement. I suspect it's a marginal chance that my cam can be reground to the BJ8 spec. Can anyone answer this question?

they can weld and repair lobes and regrind to new specifications. You just need to pick the right shop so the cam stays straight.

Hi Stretch,
I had Iskendarian regrind my BJ8 cam to a higher lift and longer duration (268Âş). They did not need to weld any new material on to do this. Cost about a hundred bucks.

I had my BJ7 cam reground to BJ8 spec by Delta Camshaft
www.deltacam.com last year. It ran me about $65 with shipping.

Cheers,
John

I used Deltacam.com also and they had to re-weld 6 lobes before the grinding. Still resonable although I don't remember the exact price. They also donate a grind to our British car show for the last two years.

Jerry

I have heard good things about Elgin Cams. They have been grinding Healey cams and other BMC stuff for a long time. They have some cams in Healey race cars that are being currently campagned.
