I wonder if anyone can shed some light on the difference between the firewall body/batch tag number and the number stamped into the hood latch, trunk prop rod pivot and cockpit mouldings. For example, F500 is stamped on the removable parts but that is not what is on the batch/body tag.

The BN4 system is much simpler with the batch number appearing on the removable items and I've yet to understand the later numbering system.

Can a vehicle be re-identified from the number mentioned above?

Andy.
