The glass cutting was done at a neighborhood glass shop. They made a template to scratch the glass at exactly the same postion on both sides. They broke the glass along the scratch, of course the poly coarbonate laminate was still holding eveything together. After pouring lighter fuild along the break it was hit with a match. The plastic melted I had 4 and 1/2 inches removed. The top of the glass was ground and polished smooth. I got lucky the first try, it usually takes a couple of pieces of glass. They said the worst case they ever had was 8 pieces! I think I paid $80.

I went home trimmed the rubber gasket to fit. The windshield stantions were also cut to fit and polished.

Very easy project.

$80 labor at a local glass shop. They fabricated a template in order to scribe the glass in the same postion on both sides. After the two scribes and crack, lighter fuild was used to fill a scribe mark. When lit with a match the polycarbonate laminate melted. 4 and 1/2 inches fell off. The new edge was ground & polished. I took it home and cut the rubber gasket and stanchions to fit. Easy job. Be prepared it usually takes two attempts, they once used 8 pieces, so there is some risk here. You may want to accquire a few cheap old pieces to take with you to the shop, just in case....

There is a fellow in the UK that "sectioned"the stanchions and modified the top bar so that he could retain a modified top. It is so well done that people usually can not figure out why his quarterlights are so "wide" at the top. I think he removed 2 inches.

The windscreen is only to conform with local license regulations. The wipers arms are also for appearance only. Like my motorcycle I have to keep a rain suit handy.

very cool - thanks
