28 inches of rain !

Lookout folks !!! a major water storm is headed your way.
Me and the Mrs are still in St Croix having fun in the
storm. The folks house sitting for us reported 28 inches
of rain fell yesterday in Puerto Rico and it's pounding
our house some more today. 28 inches in one day!!

What a wedding anniversary deal we got here.
1. They handed a $100 cash to help stimulate the local economy.
2. They gave us a free fourth night stay
3. The gave us a free eco-cruise on a catamaran
4. They gave us one free rental car day
5. They gave us a $50 free food/bar tab
6. They gave us 2 free drinks
7. They gave us a quart of rum in our room.

Wow!! We are having great fun, in spite of the
raging. We hope it clears a bit for the seaplane
ride home on Tuesday.

Might have to diet a bit when we return. Burrrp!

Everyone watch this storm. It is beginning to spin
and THAT spells bad news for eastern seaboard of America.

Real quiet except for the rolling thunder and cracking
lightning. Good thing we are not leaving today because..

we can't !!

Most roads here in the St Croix ocean level areas are
flooded and closed. A good book, good jug of wine, a
kitchem chef and a comfortable bar stool.

Life is good.

Checked in with the house sitters. Our house is still
standing and the garden needs no watering. I can't ever
remember this much heavy rain for so long a time frame.

I'm guessing landfall in southern Florida, once it
leaves us..

What rain? It's sunny here in California. Opps, sorry. But hey, I ain't
got nobody handing out $100 bills....

but, hmmm, might be able to pull off that jug of wine. Got me thinking

Yo Mike !!

Just got back from St Croix. We flew at 700 feet
altitude in the seaplane. The entire east end of
Puerto Rico appears submerged under light brown,
muddy water. Most roads still underwater.

The southern town of Patillas is now a small offshore
island with no electric or phone. All access roads
still submerged. Many houses submerged or washed away.

This storm is being reported as the heaviest rainfall
in Puerto Rico since the 1800's. If you east coast
folks tangle with................Batten the hatches.

Thankfully the winds were only about 30 mph.

Thankfully it'll probably peter out before it reaches our region. Hope all is well on the home front down there Dale.

This is the sloooowest moving major rain storm
I've ever seen.

It began around 11:00 PM Sat night and is still
coming down in buckets- Tuesday night 10:00 PM.

Many, many times Scots have asked me about missing the nice, warm weather in the USA....

Hurricanes, tornadoes, tropical storms in the south; blizzards and snow-bound in the North, etc. the extremes.... :hammer:

as opposed to weather that's only dreck most of the time....

Gettin colder round here. trees starting to get some color. But the skies have been beautiful clear.

Just a bit of color around here, but a few weeks ago we experienced fall in Denali. It will be nice to have two autumns in one year...

I am posting a few of my vacation photos as I get a chance. I have over 20 gigs on my photo drive from the trip, so it is taking time to edit them down to a reasonable size and post them.
