After getting
her all back together ( more or less), with a new flame thrower distributor & coil. Cleaned up the carbs. & went to work on tweaking the timing and carb settings.
i was still having some hesitation or missing problems, but she was coming along( better pick up & more responsive to the pedal).....right up until my new facet fuel pump failed. One minute it was working fine, the next, dead as a door nail. Fuse was ok, relay was ok, ground was ok. Wired it direct to battery.....nothing. This was a disappointment as one of the reasons I went to the electric FP was for "improved reliability" ( not to mention addressing the gas leak in my mechanical.)
so I ordered a carter turbine fan model, and will try that out, when it arrives.
In in the mean time I installed LED's in the turn signals, markers & tail lights.
i installed a hoppy trailer adapter to add the rear turn signals into the brake light circuit.
this was fairly easy to do & the instructions provided in the forum were spot on.
my next step will be check the compression, install the new(est) fuel pump, revisit the timing, just to make sure, check the carbs with the new pump, then go for a shake down drive
Update: I used a line splice connector ,( note blue box connector in pic). As a simple way to splice a line into the harness. I may have put to much pressure on it. As I haven't used one before, but it failed in Just a few hours: take home is keep the butt crimps & soldering iron handy.
Update 6/10: replaced facet pump with an airtex low output turbine pump. Very quiet, & working well so far.
