20W50 vs. 15W40

Hi all,
I recently had my 62 BN7 in the shop for a tuneup and oilchange. The engine is fairly new after a rebuild, has several mods including cosworth pistons, DWR cam, alloy head, oil cooler etc. It has ample power and runs cool (water stays rock solid at 190F oil gets up to 280F when I push it).

Unfortunately, the shop filled in 15W40 insead of 20W50 which I usually use, but it continues to run fine (see above).

Should I have another oil change done to switch back to 20W50? What happenes, if I use 20W50 when adding oil?

Thanks for the advice!

Hi, I would not mix the oils. However, I would return to the 20/50 weight at the next oil change.---Fwiw--Keoke

being the compulsive type who looses sleep over this sort of thing, I would probably drain the oil and replace it with 20/50, but my guess is it won't do any harm. Yeah, better not to mix, like the sneaker shod diablo sez.
