2012 Mitty Vintage races Road Atlanta April 27-29

I'd love to, but 1700 miles (round trip) would be tough in one weekend.

I'm still hoping to get to VIR or Mid-Ohio

We'll be there!

To Hap and the MG racers, bring it on.

Bob, you bringing a knife to gun fight ? You know this is my home track right, one I probably have 1000 laps on. We'll see, I'm not going to brag, we'll let the chips fall where they will. :driving:

The TR was beating Denny Wilson's Super 7 at NJMP two weeks ago. He ran 1.43's at Road Atlanta last fall. The big 2.2L four banger in the TR will probably really like that long uphill straight away at Road Atlanta  :grouphug:

I'm worried about those V8 cars. They should have some real scoot! Maybe we can talk Sam Halkias into showing up and putting bigger chokes in those carbs.

Should be a fun weekend. We haven't been down there yet, and the driver hasn't been there since he last ran the Runoffs in 1970. We'll make sure to remind him there is a chicane on the back straight now, aha.

All in fun,

1970, thats was the first runoffs at Road Atlanta, the year the track opened. The Mitty puts on a premium race, but alot of time not much small bore stuff, this will change that. Lots of cool stuff going on in the infield as well, MOSS/CMS has the pub in the infield, and they have live music, and free beer, always a hit with folks. Then the socials for the drivers and crew in the paddock are first class as well, no need to go eat elsewhere. Hopefully that will have a area for us all to pit in, I like the pro pits across the track, that where they had us in 2005 for the MGVR race. Road Atalnta is a amazing track the evelation going down the the esses toward T5 and then going down the hill toward S/F and T12 are a few of the real gut check corners left in American road racing. I'm not a big fan of the new 10A and 10B over the old dip, they are brake eaters, but a good passing zone.

This race should attract all the heavy hitters, for MGs, I'm sure we will see Butch, Kent, Harry, Charlie and some more that are slipping my mind right now. Kas being there is cool. It will be real cool to just be there racing. I've still got alot of cobwebs to knock loose, I expect I'll run pretty good, but be the hot dog, nah. I plan on testing the car on Nov. 12th, then doing the VDCA finale. I'm going to do the VIR VDCA event next year earlier in that month before Road Atanta next, so hopefully things go well there and the car behaves so the RA race prep is not too much.

It should be a fun event regardless. Kas is a great guy, and his motorsports experience extends well beyond Triumphs, as you know.

I'm sure you're excited to be getting back out on the track!

Yeah, just talked to one of Classic Motorsports buds, he said Tullius might be there too, it ought to be fun  Now they need to goat Huffaker in coming out for this as well  Road Atalnta is where so much of it (SCCA/road racing history) all happen for so many years, we need to talk this up, this could be a real big deal, CMS and HSR throw a darn good party.

That would be awesome! The Triumph driver and him are old rivals/friends. We'll have Bob Krokus (Group 44 Spitfire driver) and other 'Misery Manor' racers (a group of SCCA National drivers who lived together in Virginia and raced in the 60s) in our paddock. Hopefully we'll get Tony "A2Z" to fly out too as he was one of them. It's always good to see Kas as well. We're in regular contact with him.
