This was on my wish list way back when. Never happen for sure, now!

2000 GT

Nice.
A sort of cooler, rarer 240Z.

Interestingly, they were built by Yamaha. and of course, Shelby raced them for a while.

There is still the controversy about whether Albrecht Goertz (designer of the BMW 507) did the styling for this car. Goertz worked for Nissan around that time and was involved in a Nissan experimental car (called the Nissan 2000 GT) that was jobbed out to Yamaha. When Nissan abandoned the project, it is suspected that Yamaha approached Toyota with a ready-made 2000 GT project.

Lots of folks say that Goertz influenced the design of the original 240Z too.

Wow that is a sum.

Yep, there was a 2000GT in You Only Live Twice , but it was a convertible. This is one car that looks better as a coupe'!

You got it

I agree, it is funny how some cars just look better in coupes.

But IMHO, the pricing doesn't reflect it.

Looking at them, it makes sense. All sorts of influences present. Too bad the 2000 wasn't made more available.

I got to sit in one of those at the Toyota dealer in
Concord,CA,in the early '70's.
I would've bought it,but they wanted $7000 for it!

Actually, I don't think they were sold as a convertible, the one for the James Bond movie must have been coachbuilt...

One could argue that they were all coachbuilt.

But the (only) two convertibles that were made for You Only Live Twice were especially special.
