2 Questions about brakes and one about the choke..

Are you supposed to be able to install the pads into the calipers with the calipers on the car? I am putting the calipers back on the 250 after having them rebuilt at Triumph Rescue, and getting all the necessary hoses and lines installed. Thier is no fluid in the calipers, but the pads dont seem to want to fit. I loosened the caliper mounting bolts, but that didn't seem to help too much. Maybe I need to loosen them more, this was the last job I was attempting after working on some other parts of the car for a few hours. Gumption was low.
Also, what kind of fluid is appropriate for the TR250 (I think it has the same calipers as TR4 and TR6)? There is a little left from sitting in the barn that I will flush out, but I need to fill the system and dont know what was used previously, or what the system is designed for. I am using all stock, and do not need a performance application fluid at this point, just something to get the car running?

Also, I serviced the heater hoses inside the passenger compartment. I forgot how the choke cables are routed around the the duct to the passenger's heater outlet? Do they go under or over the duct? Should I lubricate the cables while in there, with what?

k-o-b: The pads should fit without removing anything. Are the pistons fully retracted?
As to fluid, well, that could start a lenghty discussion. Easiest, and many will say best, choice is Castrol LMA. The PO put DOT5 in mine but never bled the system properly. It was a bit of a bugger to bleed, but it works fine now. A tad more pedal travel. I have also used Valvoline Syntech. If Castrol is available locally I would use that.
On my TR250 the choke cables go under the duct to the dash vent, and over the defroster duct.
