1st 3000

[ QUOTE ]

I know it looks rough, but at $900 I could not pass up.

The original $900 plus another $25,000 should put it in fair shape. Certainly not for the faint hearted or limited funds.

Dave, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif But I think you had better add another $5000 to this one.---Keoke

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif Beaglbut: She is pretty Rough-First give it a bath top to bottom do not attempt to remove anything from the car You might cut the top away but do not touch any of the normal top retaining things, and you can remove the seats for cleaning. there is considerable rust in the driver side cills can not see the other side . Front impact was not bad it will be easy to work out.Keep the car as far away from conventional body shops and mechanics as you can get it if you don't want it buggered up.-FWIW---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Personally, I would have jumped on it for $900, as I suspect most eveyone else here would have.
Of course, this is from the guy that has $17,000.00 in an unfinished '67 GT6.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif Patton, you are already $1800.00 in the hole and it just came off the shipper's van. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif-Keoke

Well, the good news is, since this is your first 3000, all the rest of them will be better. The bad news is, all the rest of them will be better. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

Still, well worth the dough. What are the plans for the car? Pro-resto? Do-it-yourself resto (WARNING, WARNING)? Other?

Hey I only paid $700 to get my car here from PA, so I just made $200!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Seriously, even if he puts $35,000 more in the car, as long as he makes sure it is done right, he will have a car worth $35,900. If you enjoy the restoration process , it's a pretty good deal.

Cars are going on eBay in awful condition for over $2000

Look at this one

And this one

And these two

And this one (though nicer)

And this one in Parts

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif Hey Patton for $900 be in my garage too.---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Patton,

Do you collect these horror stories /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif, or are you shopping /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif?

I keep an eye on what condition the lower priced big Healeys are going for on eBay, it reinforces the perception (and I think and accurate one) that I got a good deal for mine.

Congrats.

Way cool. I hope to see you get this one back on the road. Please let me know if there are any questions I can answer.

Congratulations......fun little project that will keep you busy for a few evenings and weekends /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

For $900? I would have jumped at it too!! Good luck, and yes you are right, there is a great depth of knowledge here, and everyone is happy to pass that knowledge on and to encourage a fellow enthusiast. Thanks for posting those pictures.

I bought the 3000 from a friend who has owned for 25 years, & he has been meaning to restore, but time has gone by too fast, has other priorities now. Former owner has hs own repair shop, has offered to help with anything I need. I work for an insurance co coordinating their direct repair program, so I spend all day every day in body shops. I plan to get running and thru NYS inspection and run for a year to assess all systems. Will probably keep as original as possible. I'm putting rockers on my 70 MGB/GT my self right now, so once that is done it will be on to the Healey. Even the wife is excited about thisone. I did have a 65 A-H Sprite Mark III and a 66 Sprite when I was in colloege- no $ and not as much knowledge as I have now.
