The obd II sensors in my car come up not ready when checked. The computer has been changed, o2 sensors, new cats also. Still no difference. My local dealer has told that they just keep changing computers till the systems work, don't sound right to me. All 4 systems need to work in order for the car to pass the emissions inspection. Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Pete

OK, there is a "drive cycle" that has to be performed before the cars computer will "self test" the systems in question. The manufacturers are generally bad at letting anyone know what the drive cycle is. The Jag dealer SHOULD be able to find that out though. I will look thru my literature this weekend and see if I can find anything to shed light on the matter. These are called readiness tests or sometimes readiness monitors. Ask the morons at the dealer if they have any master techs employed there, or anyone with emission experience. There has to be a specific set of conditions met, ie like 32 miles at 54 MPH, 2 min. idling... or some non-sense like that. The answer about changing computers is not an acceptable answer, unless they are willing to do it one their dime. Sheesh!

This car has been thru several drive cycles, by the dealer and I have performed many myself including the reccomended one from the DMV. Still all 4 systems come up not ready. I was wondering if temperature has anything to do with it.
Thanks for helping.

The dealer may be pulling the 10 year old car BS. If he has the up to date Jag Service Diagnostics, they should be able to perform the drive cycle routine and get you emmission tolarant. Gov says they must be updated to within 10 years, and some dealers will not try anything on the older models because their young mechanics have not studied them in the tech rooms. Find an independent in your area with autologic diagnostics ( Jag, Land Rover, Volvo, BMW ( and have them advise you.

Thanks for your help Larry, sorry for the slow reply, I have made an appt. for tomorrow with an independent and asked if he had the auto logic and said he did. I will keep everyone updated. Thanks again for all the help.
