1989 XJ6 air conditioning

The air is out on my xj6. None of those lights turn on, and I've got a circuit one failure. Right now, I don't have the money to take it in. Is their anything I can do to fix it? It's hot as anything in Florida.
 
Well, start with the circuit 1 failure. That means you have a fuse out in the rh fuse box next to the door opening. If you are lucky, the fuse will be one that affects the AC. If not, then the AC control unit probably needs the micro switch replaced. It is too complicated for me to explain on here, but you can probably pull the control head yourself, and take it to a Jag shop and get it fixed fairly cheaply.Call around, and find a shop that has ex dealer technicians, and chances are someone there can change the microswitch by memory. This used to be a common repair on those cars.
