Hello all,
My GT that I just brought over from the UK has a gold engine. I have heard about the gold seal engines as replacements, can someone give me more info what was done to the block and components?
Thanks
Tom

Aye.

pictures??? I want to see it (the car and the engine). Heck I want the car. The dash in those just look better than the 77-80 lhd cars to me - not sure why.

tom74tr6..I would love to see some pix of the engine(and car of course).Have you looked at the engine number?
It would be Neat to see what number they assigned to the factory rebuilts.
Mabey they rebuild the original engine and send it back??

Curious anyway..Good luck and have fun with it..Mark

Gold engines and trannys were on the dealers shelf. They were direct swap items.

In the UK, A Gold Seal replacement was considered as good as it gets. It was a genuine factory rebuild. I drove several Allegro panda cars (google the things, you will chuckle) with gold seal replacements, as these little cars often blew up when trying to catch something with more "umph". Like a motorcycle. Er, ummmm, "Need a report on this boss?". Oh 'eck!

Great stuff...Thanks for the history there guys.

I will post some pics this week of the car. It is at my buddy's house (blew the clutch) and will get some engine numbers from the tag.
